FIFA World Cup 2022™
The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ was held in November and December 2022. More than 1 million fans visited Qatar during the month long football festival.
Prior to the event, there were fears Qatar’s tiny size could lead to mass congestion and chaos. However the event was widely acclaimed to have been an operational feat, with visitors noting the quality of organisation, the family-friendly environment and the ease of watching more than one match in a stadium in a day.
Boasting a legacy of successfully hosting the world’s largest spectacle, Qatar now has the confidence to continue to broaden it non-hydrocarbon economy in the years to come. This will no doubt include other global sporting events and puts Qatar on the map for businesses and tourists alike. The extent to which Qatar is able to leverage its achievements will influence the speed with which the economy will diversify.
